2005 Elite News

Date:  January 3, 2005:

Makayla Stambaugh, at 14 years old is getting ready for her first international competition.  Eli and Makayla will be leaving on January 4th for Texas where she will start training shortly after arriving on Tuesday through Saturday morning.  Competition will be Saturday night against Japan. We will have results posted as soon as possible. Good Luck, Makayla!

On January 8th, Annie DiLuzio, who is 16 years old will be traveling to Texas to participate in her first elite training camp.  The International Training Camp being held Sunday through Wednesday.  This is considered a "working" camp for the athletes.  It will emphasize on proper technique, form and dance.

USA/JAPAN FRIENDSHIP COMPETITION

 

After 4 days of intense training at the Women's National Training Center in New Waverly, Texas, Makayla had her first international competition.  She performed well during the training sessions and over-all during competition.  She scored a 9.150 on vault for 4th place and 8.925 on floor to earn her 1st place.  Congratulations, Makayla on your first international competition.


Date:  February 24, 2005:

Both Makayla and Annie have just attended the February training camp at the Women's National Training Center in New Waverly, Texas.  A special congratulations goes to Annie because she qualified herself to become a National Team Member and left from the camp to compete in New York City.  In New York, she will be competing in a three way meet with USA competing against Canada and Mexico.  We wish her the best of luck and we are very proud of her!!  Check out the National Team Picture below.

A special congratulations to Annie DiLuzio at the Women's International Team Challenge
25-Feb - Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, N.Y.  Annie had a great time competing against some wonderful gymnasts from Canada and Mexico and visiting New York City.  Annie competed very well and became the vault champion in her first international competition.  Below are some pictures of the experience:

Congratulations to Annie DiLuzio because she has just qualified to the WORLD CUP. This very prestigious competition will be held in Ghent, Belgium  April 30th - May 1st 2005.  Annie will be competing her strongest event, vault, against the best in the world.  More info to follow.

 


April 21, 2005:  Annie DiLuzio and coach Eli Rodriguez have just left to train at the National Team Training Camp before leaving for Ghent, Belgium.  More info to follow.

 

Date:  April 30, 2005.  We have just got word that Annie DiLuzio has placed 3rd in the preliminaries at the World Cup in Ghent, Belgium.  She will be competing in the Finals tomorrow.   Best of luck to Annie - We know she is the best!!

 


May 1, 2004:  ANNIE DILUZIO HAS JUST WON THE SILVER MEDAL ON VAULT AT THE WORLD CUP IN GHENT, BELGIUM!  Here are some great pictures of the event.

August 7 - 14, 2005: Annie Diluzio and Makayla Stambaugh are headed for the VISA CHAMPIONSHIPS in Indianapolis, Indiana.  They will compete on Thursday, August 11th and Saturday, August 13th.  Check the USA-GYMNASTICS.ORG web-site for updates and watch on NBC Saturday night at 8:00pm and Sunday night at 7:00pm.

 

August 11th - Annie Diluzio finished  in 6th place today in the preliminaries, she is in 2nd place on vault.  Makayla Stambaugh finished in 14th place in the preliminaries.  Good luck on Saturday!

 

August 13th - Congratulations!  Annie Diluzio finished in 7th place all-around getting Silver on vault.  Makayla Stambaugh finished in 11th place all-around - great job!  Annie is again on the Sr. National Team and Makayla is again on the Jr. National Team.  Congratulations to both on a great job in Indiana!
